A brew with Su Clueit: our new Production & Planning Manager
We’ve welcomed student, Chelsea Grimshaw from Manchester Metropolitan University
to the join the team on a 3-week placement as Content Executive. Read all about her experience…
What attracted you to STM?
I’m about to finish a MSc Creative Advertising (Strategy) course at MMU where I’ve developed a real interest in brand storytelling, so when I came across Shoot the Moon (the branding experts) I immediately wanted to get involved!
What were your main responsibilities?
As a Content Executive, the role has involved a lot – from creating content plans to planning photoshoots, writing blogs and coming up with ideas for both client and internal projects.
What are your top highlights so far?
So many! Being able to share some of my ideas and see them become a reality was pretty exciting. I also really enjoyed getting to know everyone, they couldn’t have been more welcoming.
Where do you see yourself going next?
My goal is to work in branding or advertising, but I’m very open-minded when it comes to specific roles (there are so many different opportunities). As long as I can come up with creative ideas (maybe a cheeky pun here and there) and see them work their magic, I’m living the dream.
Have you developed knowledge in any key areas since your time with us?
I’ve learnt a lot about social content during my time. It’s been insightful to see how strategies and ideas are brought to life to help clients tell their brand stories. It’s also been very interesting to see how these specifically perform to improve brand awareness.
What key qualities do you think you need to be a marketeer?
Curiosity and being fearless with your ideas. Even if you think they’re rubbish, share them (you never know who or what it might inspire). The worst thing that can happen is that it’s forgotten about.
What are your views on social media as a marketing tool?
It’s a powerful, underestimated and sometimes misused marketing tool. It’s so diverse and can help brands not only achieve their business goals, but also help build relationships with their consumers. Working at Shoot the Moon has been insightful from this perspective, as it’s pretty evident how powerful social media can be when there’s a clear strategy behind it.
Dream brand to work with?
I’d love to work with Burger King – purely because you can have fun with it. They have a clear brand identity (and a BIG budget), so any whacky and disruptive ideas are more likely to become a reality. Other contenders would be Aldi, NHS and Guinness.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
You’d usually find me going out for food, enjoying a long walk somewhere or watching the US Office for the 1000th time.
