Behind the Scenes: ‘Hydration for the Nation’ campaign by Aqua Pura

The team have been hard at work, creating the ‘Hydration for the Nation’ campaign for Aqua Pura. The TV ad is on your screens right now until September. Filmed in the Cumbrian Fells, we go behind the scenes with Dan Hough, Head of Creative, to find out all you need to know about the creation of the TV ad!

Why did you film the Aqua Pura campaign in the Cumbrian Fells?

“One of the key USP’s for Aqua Pura is their mineral water is drawn straight out of the ground in Cumbria, home to the Lake District. Add to that the brands vision for promoting healthy, active living and the locations were a bit of a no-brainer.


“Getting crew, kit, actors and supplies up and down the fells to each location proved to be more of a challenge. The whole production was spread over 3-days and had to be planned to the minute, with GPS co-ordinates and medical teams on stand-by.” – Dan

What were you looking to achieve?

“We wanted to create an inspiring story, something that would build confidence in the brand and help elevate it to a position of authority and trust, while underlining the brand values of encouraging healthy hydration in families in a positive and inspiring way. We wanted to show the epic journey of the water as it makes its way to British families, fuelling them on their own mini adventures!” – Dan

Did you have any challenges?

“The main challenge on a project that’s 6 months in the making and involves so many moving parts is keeping everything on track and pulling in the same direction. Working with the right people is key – the strategy and creative concept came from STM but the physical production came from Chief Productions and their ability to bring a story to life.” – Dan

Any highlights?

“The whole shoot was an adventure, but one of the highlights for me, was standing on the lakeside on a still summer evening with the sun setting over the valley, as we captured the last shot of the day. Not a bad way to earn a living.” – Dan
