2020 unwrapped

17th December 2020
Office news

2020 has been a year to remember for many reasons and certainly not one we’ll ever forget. With the new year in plain sight, we wanted to stop, reflect and unwrap our highlights of 2020. In no particular order, here’s our top 20 from the year…

1. The Friday Quiz

A solid highlight of the year, bringing out some serious team competitiveness is the Friday quiz. Every hour, every Friday, we’d battle it out for top of the leader board. It’s been a great way to get all the team involved and stay connected during lockdown. It’ll be here to stay for 2021.

2. The Moon Inn

Following on from the quiz, we’ll open the doors to the Moon Inn – our virtual pub.  We’ve made some great memories which are too good to share! We’re looking forward to hosting Moon Inn at the studios, once it’s fully safe to have all the team to be back together.

3. Team Promotions

Recognising the team’s talent and hard work, we’ve celebrated 5 team promotions across the STM Group this year.

4. New Talent

We’ve also welcomed new talent to the team – Ben, Amanda, Chloe and David have been making a positive impact.

5. New paws

Not only have we welcomed new faces to the team but paws too! Reuben (a very cute sausage dog) is our resident dog.

6. Goodbye Naval Street, Hello Swan Street

Late Summer we opened the doors to our new studio at The Swan Buildings in the Northern Quarter and we’ve been over the moon with it ever since. Read the full story on our blog here.

7. Crafting Sadler & Swain

A space where teams come together to collaborate and stop for a coffee and bite to eat, our new coffee shop needed a brand, so we combined the stories of entrepreneurs James Sadler and Edward Swain with Manchester’s rich heritage to create Sadler & Swain.

9. Content Team of the Year Award

As Roddy (Social Media Manager) would say, “CHAMPIOOONS”. We were thrilled to pick up Prolific North’s Content Team of the Year Award. Read more about the awards that celebrates creative excellence here.

10. Words of Wisdom

Dan Hough (Head of Creative) and Phil Marshall (MD) enjoyed hosting sessions at Lancaster Uni’s Creative Careers Week, hearing all about the students’ ambitions and plans, discussing everything from creative and business.

11. Supporting the next generation

As part of our ongoing partnership with Lancaster University, we had an incredible year with Hollie on the team, providing support and teaching key skills across core creative disciplines. We’re looking forward to welcoming new placements in the years to come!

12. Supporting our Neighbours

As part of the Together We’re Able initiative we supported local chocolatiers Cocoa Cabana coming out of lockdown, boosting engagements online by 95% and building an active community. See how on our case study here.

13. New Relationships

We’ve developed some amazing relationships this year across the retail and manufacturing sectors, we’re looking forward to more of this in the new year.

14. TV ad for Morphy Richards

Delivered on a tight deadline, during lockdown restrictions, it was a very proud moment seeing a TV ad that we produced for Morphy Richards on screen. The project included full scale production, straight from storyboarding through to shooting.

15. Super Recipe Book

Bespoke recipes and photography and collation of a superhero themed recipe book for Stoves.

16. Pawsome Christmas

Crafting a festive lookbook presenting Pets at Home’s latest range. Complete with photography content captured in the studio to the slickest design, it has to be our best one yet. Watch this space for Christmas 2021.

17. Souped Up

Increasing Lakeland’s soup product sales by 90% with a multi-channel campaign. Keep your eyes peeled for a new project with Lakeland in the new year.

18. Keeping brands connected

Supporting the brands that we work with responsive content throughout the pandemic to make sure online and offline comms matched government guidance.

19. Colour Boutique by Stoves

Ending the year on a high and refreshing Stoves’ collection identity and implementing a social media campaign and content, including a AR Instagram filter to launch their new range.

20. Making it through 2020

What a year it’s been! We’re looking forward to starting the new year with fresh new content and exciting projects.
